Concrete steps be warned...

This ladies and gentlemen is the DeWalt D25980K, or the DeWalt Heavy Duty Pavement Breaker with Hammer Truck and Steel for the layperson. Regardless of what you call this monster, the fact of the matter is I had the privilege of using this bad larry today. Sure, I'm not the manliest of men, not by a longshot, but using this dealie made me feel pretty burley. That being said, the actual burly dudes that do this for real probably would have thought I looked like a sissy. "I just let the boat do the work."

Anyway, it was pretty fun, but I would advise against doing it right after lunch. That calzone was shaken out of its comfort zone in a jiffy.

The Stars at Night...

"The stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of" New Hampshire...

Really, on a peaceful retro bike ride home from the Pasta Loft on the Oval in Milford, NH, the stars can be quite vivid even whilst the moon is at half staff.

I rest my case?

Beer Explosion

Mike and I brewed a Dunkelweizen yesterday and everything went like clockwork. I went downstairs to check on the progress of things like I do every morning following a brewing session and the beer was frothing up nicely, actually, it was frothing up a bit more than usual, but I wasn't worried. I pointed out the extra frothieness to the parents as well as Mike and then we all went upstairs to go about our morning duties. About 5 minutes later Mom went down to the basement and let a "Huston, we have a problem" drop.

It seems as though the krausen foamed up quite excessively blocking the airlock which caused a tremendous build up of pressure blasting the stopper and airlock off (which we have yet to find) and also cause about 2 (of the 5) gallons of pre-beer to make a substantial mess.

Mike took a quick video of the aftermath which I will be posting soon.

Grams moves to New Hampshire!

Grams moved from Mt. Dora, FL to a nursing home right here in Milford, NH. Hurrah! She's living about 1 mile from my parents' house. I plan on playing some Scrabble with her once we find where the game is stashed.

So, yesterday I was talking with her about my homebrewing which prompted the following conversation:

Grams: Have you ever made home-made cocain?
Me: Uhm, no.
Mom: Mother, that's illegal.
Grams: Well, sometimes people do illegal things.

Hahah.

Brew-a-thon

This weekend we brewed two (2) batches of beer. In this case, we represents mostly Mike and I, but we were accompanied at times by brother James, Dad, and Rob.

So, what did we brew? Well, Saturday's brew was our second attempt at a Double Brown Ale and I think it's going to turn out even better (stronger and more bottles) than before. Today's was a Pale Ale which will be dry hopped for some extra umphf in the flavor department.

Anyway, to summarize, our brewing thus far has been:
1. Pumpkin Ale - gone
2. Double Brown Ale - gone
3. Gluten Free Ale - almost gone
4. Apricot Coriander Ale - ready in 1 week
5. Rhubarb Hefeweizen - ready in 1-2 weeks
6. Apfelwein - ready in 1-2 weeks
7. Coconut Curry Honey Hefeweizen - ready in 3-4 weeks
8. Double Brown Ale - probably saving for the wedding
9. Pale Ale - probably saving for the wedding
